HIGHLAND PARK, IL—Billy Corgan is taking a break from recording two new Smashing Pumpkins albums, due in 2015, to perform for the first time at Ravinia on Aug. 30 in his hometown of Highland Park, and people who support his pet project PAWS Chicago can win free pavilion tickets to this rare acoustic performance that will include Smashing Pumpkins songs.

Corgan, who adopted his own “rock n roll” cats from PAWS Chicago (Pets Are Worth Saving), has been a major supporter of the not-for-profit that finds homes for nearly 6,000 pets every year. He has raised thousands of dollars for the nonprofit by auctioning himself for unique experiences with the highest bidder and he wants to keep helping.

That’s why any new foster application filed & approved with PAWS Chicago between now and Aug. 27 will be eligible for a free pair of pavilion tickets to Corgan’s performance at Ravinia. The PAWS Chicago Foster Care Program is critical in saving the lives of Chicagoland’s homeless pets, but it only works if the community gets involved; because foster homes are what enable PAWS Chicago to save as many lives as possible.

Fostering a pet typically requires just a few weeks of love and care in a home environment while they wait for adoption, heal or just need a break from the busy shelter life. Applications can be filled out at pawschicago.org/foster, or call the PAWS Chicago foster team at 773-475-9464 for more information.

“Billy is a tremendous advocate for animals and we are thrilled to join him at Ravinia for his Hometown Hero performance,” said Paula Fasseas, PAWS Chicago Founder & Chairman. “He has become a voice for the voiceless, spreading awareness about the mass euthanasia of homeless cats and dogs while promoting lifesaving solutions of adoption, fostering, and spay/neuter that will ultimately build No Kill communities. We look forward to opening our satellite PAWS Chicago adoption center in Billy’s hometown of Highland Park this fall."

PAWS Chicago will also have a booth set up at Ravinia’s main gate on the day of Corgan’s concert. Guests are encouraged to register there to find out more about PAWS and how they can help.
