Memorabilia Monday: Mellon Collie Music Award

Today's Memorabilia Monday is a Smashing Pumpkins Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) award. These awards are of particular interest due to the high quality of the award/artwork and their limited nature. Additionally, the awards are often given directly to members of the band as well as personnel affiliated with the album within the recording industry.

This particular Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness award was created January 27, 1997, to certify the album as eight times platinum. The album would later be certified Diamond for sales equal to 10 million units; an elite honor celebrating albums of extreme commercial success!
