The first Teargarden by Kaleidyscope EP, Songs For A Sailor, consisted of a wooden box which housed a 7” vinyl with the bonus track “Teargarden Theme ”. The release also contained a CD with four songs and a hand-carved stone obelisk. A select 99 of the 10,000 wooden boxes sold had a ‘fool’s gold’ or pyrite obelisk with an alternate version of the "Teargarden Theme". Making yet another rare and highly collectible piece of memorabilia!
In general, collectors highly appreciate the existence of mis-pressings. One of the most notable are the colour mis-pressings of the CD album Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness, where the colours of CD1 (Dawn to Dusk) and CD2 (Twilight to Starlight) were switched. We know of such mis-pressings coming from Canada, Korea and Mexico. The picture above shows the mis-pressing on top, with the correct colour scheme below. Rare? Yes. One of a kind? Most probably not. But certainly worth a mention here, and an obvious focus point when it comes to extreme memorabilia collecting!
An iconic piece of memorabilia from the music video "Tonight, Tonight"!
Some interesting background info on the "Tonight, Tonight" video.
The video production crew initially had problems locating costumes for the video because the movie Titanic was being shot at the same time, in Los Angeles, California. Titanic director, James Cameron, rented nearly every turn-of-the-century prop and costume in the city, leaving the "Tonight, Tonight" production crew little to work with. The directors compromised by renting the leftover costumes and hiring designers to remake them into the elaborate period clothing seen in the video. The video took three days to shoot.
The single went on to win six awards at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1996:
-Video of the Year
-Best Special Effects
-Best Art Direction
"Tonight, Tonight" was nominated for Viewer’s Choice and Best Editing, and was also nominated for Best Short Form Music Video at the 1997 Grammy Awards. It is still considered one of the greatest music videos of all time!
Some additional trivia; Tom Kenny, the lead male portrayed in the video, went on to become the voice of the extremely successful cartoon, Spongebob Squarepants.
Who could resist that face? Brutus is a one-year-old Beagle mix. He is adorable and has a great personality to match! He gets along great with other dogs and once he warms up to you, is loyal and sweet. Brutus enjoys playing a rousing game of fetch and then cuddling once the day is done. Smart and motivated, Brutus knows a lot of commands including "high five"! A perfect gentleman in the home, he is house trained and does fine when left alone. If you are looking to add a great dog to your life, consider Brutus!
In 1998, Puff Daddy (Sean John Combs) created remixes for the songs, “Ava Adore” and “Perfect”. The “Ava Adore” remix was officially released as part of the 2014 Adore deluxe box set reissue. However, the “Perfect Puffy Remix” has yet to see an official label release, which makes this promo a highly sought after piece of memorabilia!
The Smashing Pumpkins song, "Perfect", was released today (Sep. 7th, 1998)!
Today we focus on official lyric sheets offered through the Smashing Pumpkins’ 1993 release of Siamese Dream. Presented inside the album was a unique opportunity to receive a replication of Billy Corgan’s hand-written lyric sheet – for just one dollar! Two different colored paper pressings are known to exist. Twenty two years later, the value of these lyric sheets continue to prove how meaningful and deeply rooted the lyrics truly are to this album!
Billy vaguely recollects this special offer that came with the album. However the handwriting is not actually his...
